LETTER TO 8TH GRADE PARENTS
Dear parents of TRMS eighth graders,
With the close of the first marking period underway, I find myself reflecting on some of the new initiatives we have in place to improve the academics of our district. Some of these initiatives include Instructional Rounds whereby the Superintendent’s Leadership Team observes actual classes (teaching and learning) and uses these findings to make district-wide improvements; administrator evaluations and goal setting, to target specific areas for improvement and accountability; policy review relative to high school achievement and offerings, and more. My own goals which outline these and other initiatives are available for public viewing on the district’s website under school board documents at https://public.timberlane.net/sau/trsb/Shared%20Documents/2013-2014/2013-14%20Superintendent%27s%20Goals.pdf.
The reason I am sharing this information with you is because there may be 8th grade parents who are considering enrolling their soon-to-be 9th grader into a private or other high school. If you are one of these parents, I would very much like to hear from you as your opinion and rationale for why you are considering this are important to me. Additionally, this information will assist us in initiating even more improvements.
My preference is to meet with parents in person and would welcome your call to schedule an appointment. Please contact Cathy Belcher at 382-6119 ext 2217.
I am very proud of the direction the district is taking and am also proud of the team of administrators, educators and support staff working diligently to optimize the learning experience at Timberlane. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Earl Metzler, Superintendent of Schools
