No School Protocol Reminder
With winter fast approaching, Dr. Earl Metzler would like to review the “No-School” procedures for the students and parents of the area towns.
No-School decisions or cancellations for weather and other reasons (electrical, plumbing, etc.) are made by 5:30 a.m. The decision is communicated to radio and TV stations for general broadcasting to the public and automated calls are made to homes. The radio and TV stations are as follows:
WMUR-TV 9 Manchester, NH | WHDH-TV 7 Boston, MA |
*WBZ–TV 4, AM 1030 Boston, MA | T.E.N. – Cable Channel 6/22 Timberlane School District |
WCVB-TV 5 Boston, MA | HCTV – Cable Channel 6/17 Hampstead School District |
Earliest announcements will be made through Twitter. Those wishing to receive Twitter announcements may do so by subscribing to Twitter; Dr. Metzler’s twitter handle is: twitter.com/SuptSAU55.
Attempts will also be made to get the “No-School” announcements for Atkinson/Danville on Channel 22 and for Plaistow/Sandown on Channel 6. Separate decisions may be made for the Timberlane and Hampstead School districts. On those mornings when parents question the decision of the Superintendent to have school, they are encouraged to use their own best judgment when deciding as to whether or not to send their children to school. Parents know best the conditions in their area.
Parents and students are asked not to call local fire and police stations to get the no-school announcements. These calls interfere with the fire and police station personnel’s ability to react to other potential emergencies.
Anyone who may desire more information is encouraged to call the schools or the Superintendent’s office, 382-6119.
