District Announces the Appointments of Assistant Principals to Pollard and Danville Elementary Schools

POLLARD SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS

As part of the restructuring plan to improve rigor, accountability, evaluation and support, the Superintendent of Schools, along with key leadership team members, created a new administrator leadership team at Pollard School that includes an additional Assistant Principal position.  Dr. Metzler is pleased to announce Mr. Brian Shawley, the Assistant Principal of Danville Elementary School, and Mr. Douglas Blay, teacher at Sandown North Elementary School, will join Pollard School’s administrative team beginning the 2016-17 school year.

Mr. Shawley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from California University of Pennsylvania, and from New England College, a Master of Education in Special Education and a Master of Education in School Principal.  His journey at Timberlane began as a classroom teacher at Atkinson Academy in 2005 and was promoted to Assistant Principal in 2014.

 

 

Blay 2016 2Mr. Blay received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Lyndon State College, a Master of Education from Salem State University, and he holds an Educational Leadership graduate certificate from the University of New England.  He is also working toward a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Curriculum and Instruction.   Mr. Blay joined the Timberlane Regional School District in 2001 and has worked as an Enrichment Specialist and a classroom teacher.

Both Mr. Shawley and Mr. Blay are dedicated leaders and educators in our school district.  They have worked to develop academic curriculum, implement new programs, and have supported children and families for several years.  We are proud to welcome them to their new positions and look forward to their continued excellence.

DANVILLE ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

CanotasMrs. Lucy Canotas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Keene State College and has recently completed a Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree at Southern New Hampshire University.   She has been an educator in the Manchester School District at the Elementary and Middle School levels since 1998 where she worked to develop curriculum and assessments, as well as supported data-based instructional decision making for students.   She has worked at the state level with many educators and program directors through collaboration on the NH State Task Force for Ensuring Equitable Access to Effective Educators and with the NH Department of Education.  Her leadership training has focused on College and Career Readiness Standards and Student Learning Objectives. Her experience as a teacher leader has strongly prepared her for her new position at Timberlane.
