Timberlane Athletes Making the Grade – Press Release
As part of the district’s initiative to increase rigor and accountability to drive student achievement, the academics of each student athlete are closely monitored throughout the year by school personnel and coaches of each sport. Over the last three years Timberlane athletes have maintained a collective 3.47 grade point average (GPA) qualifying these students for honor roll distinction. (Honor roll distinction requires a GPA of 3.0 – 3.6.) It is important to note this information was not monitored or tracked in previous years. This impressive distinction has been maintained despite an increase of 90 student athletes in the 2014-15 school.
Our student athletes work year-round to improve achievement as students and athletes. It is this commitment to hard work that compels universities and colleges around the world to aggressively recruit Timberlane Owls.
Congratulations to administrators, teachers and coaches for demanding high standards of achievement for our student athletes on and off the field. And congratulations to our student athletes for continuing to meet and exceed these high standards. Maintaining a level of excellence will serve them well for many years to come as well as set an outstanding example for their younger brothers and sisters.
